Welcome to the official website of Sunrise Football Club based in Nairobi County in Kenya. As a community based organization we are interested in empowering the young people through sport to help them fulfill their potential and achieve their dreams.

 

Sunrise Football Club is based in Umoja estate just outside Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya and borders the Mathare slum which is one of the largest and poorest slums in Africa.

 

Umoja is one of the areas that are overpopulated with the low income families living on poor sanitation, no clean water and rationing of electricity now and then. Actually when you grow up in places like this, it can be very hard to be optimistic about your future. Sunrise Football Club offers young people from Umoja estate some hope and the opportunity for a better life.

 

At Sunrise Football Club we believe that sport can always bring people together regardless of age, religion, economic status, education level, gender, ability or ethnicity and can be a very powerful way of teaching young people skills and instill values while at the same time passing important social messages.

 

Sport is always a very powerful motivator that normally inspires those who take part in it. As an organization we use sport which we always combine with community outreach and development activities to give young and hopeful people the skills and confidence they need in order to aim higher in life, achieve more and improve their lives.

 

Sunrise Football Club is run by young people for young people who take part in its activities and give each one of them the opportunity to dream for a brighter future.

 

What has brought all these young people together at Sunrise Football Club is the love of sport, particularly football. At Sunrise Football Club we keep on learning new skills and lessons to help us with life on and off the football pitch. At Sunrise Football Club it is not just football we play on the pitch that counts, we emphasize in taking part in other activities off the pitch, we collect litter in areas where we live, participate in HIV/AIDS awareness sessions and learn on the effects of drug abuse, promote education among the young youths who have transformed from being street urchins. Young people have who have been involved in the Sunrise Football Club since its inception have grown to become role models and youth leaders in the Umoja community; rate of drug abuse have greatly been reduced, involvement of young People in crime have gone down. Some of these young people now lead in the HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and counseling programs. We love to welcome visitors at Sunrise FC and show them around. We also like to hear news and lessons from our supporters.

Sunrise Football Club-Kenya, is a registered Talent Organization for disadvantaged children from various slums in Nairobi, situated in Umoja location, Embakasi West constituency. Sunrise Fc is affiliated to the Football Kenya Federation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.At Sunrise Fc we are always committed to the development youth football from the grass root in Kenya. The club was formed in December 2010 to identify and develop talents among kids aged from 9 years to 19 years old both Boys and Girls that come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We started with 10 kids and currently we have signed up 60 kids from different regions in Nairobi, Most are orphans while some have single parents or both parents.

At Sunrise we believe in a strong club structure, consistent developmental philosophy and integrated learning environment to increase the player's development.

Measures have been set up in preparing players, we have set forth a structure (camps, team training, club training, specialty training, private lessons, etc.) that we feel best captures those elements and provides incentive to players at all levels.

Ultimately our desire is to assist players in their development (technical, tactical, physical, and mental) in a fun but challenging environment.

The program at Sunrise fc is specifically designed to get players ready for the challenges at the next level of their career which can either be within the Sunrise fc structure or a top soccer program.
